How the coaching process works

Two players, one journey, your future.

Two players, one journey. You choose the steps and bring your story, context and goals. I hold the bigger picture, ask, interrupt and observe, and use curiosity and intuition to help you see more, think deeper and move forward.

Illustration of the coaching journey: two walkers on a winding path from a START flag to a mountain labelled Your Goal. The coachee chooses the steps and the coach asks, interrupts and observes. Stepping stones along the path read: choose the next step, explore through questions, notice and reflect, use curiosity and intuition as your guide, and make meaning.
The coachee brings the destination, chooses the route and makes the meaning. The coach asks the questions, creates space, offers perspective and keeps you moving.

Your coaching journey

  1. Say hello, no strings attachedA complimentary 20-minute telephone discovery call to explore coaching and answer your questions. There's no pitch and no pressure to decide on the spot.
  2. ReflectYou'll receive a short Reflection Questionnaire. It's an invitation to reflect, not a test, so answer as many or as few questions as feel relevant. Please return it a week before Session One.
  3. Create your spaceChoose a quiet moment, make a drink and keep a notebook nearby. Small, low-effort rituals that make reflection easy, not another task on the to-do list.
  4. Begin the six sessionsSix 90-minute sessions, online or in person. Session One opens with a debrief of your questionnaire, turning what you noticed into a clear focus. After that, each session holds two threads: the longer-term change you're working towards, and whatever is most useful to explore right now. Goals aren't fixed on day one.
  5. Grow together, your wayHow coaching feels is shaped together. Some people want a cheerleader and others want candid and direct. I draw on a range of coaching tools and I'm happy to explain any of them, before or after we use them.
  6. Make meaningOur final session draws the threads together, names what has changed and decides what's next. For some, that's a natural close. For others, it opens into Feedforward: continuing the work together in another block.

A tool we might use together

Sessions may include reflective tools like this worksheet. It helps you move from an experience, through the discussions you've had and the sources of information you're drawing on, to your conclusions and your next step.

You'll never be asked to complete anything you don't want to, and I'm happy to explain any tool before or after we use it.

What coaching isn't. It isn't therapy, counselling or advice. If something comes up that needs a different kind of support, I'll say so and help you find it.

Confidentiality. What you share stays between us, with the limited exceptions we'll agree in writing before we start, such as a risk of serious harm.

Cancellation. Please give at least 24 hours' notice if you need to rearrange a session. Late cancellations or non-attendance are charged at the full session fee. If I need to cancel because of unforeseen circumstances, I'll offer the earliest mutually convenient appointment.

Let's take the next step
