Coaching within a sports environment

For athletes, players, coaches and teams who want a confidential space to build confidence, understand themselves beyond the game and perform at their best.

Coaching is about closing the gap between where you are now and where you want to be. You may have something specific in mind, or you may want help identifying it in the fog.

As an athleteAre you looking for a brave space to learn who or what your identity is, away from your sport?

What we might work on

  • Understanding who you are away from your sport
  • Confidence, mindset and handling pressure
  • Starting or returning to sport
  • Team dynamics and communication, using INSIGHTS
  • Stepping into leadership as a captain or coach
  • Balancing sport with work and life

My experience

  • Head coach for the junior club and team coach for the ladies' team at Beyond Badminton Chorley
  • Created a session for women and girls starting or returning to badminton, funded through the Badminton England development fund, which grew into a team playing in a league
  • Coaching through sport and wellbeing, and a lifelong journey with badminton

Understanding people and teams

  • BA (Hons) in Psychotherapy, with dissertations exploring Transactional Analysis, a way of understanding how we communicate and relate to one another
  • Accredited INSIGHTS practitioner. INSIGHTS gives individuals and teams a shared language for their preferences, helping people understand themselves, appreciate difference and work together more effectively
  • I use these tools to strengthen team dynamics, in organisations and in sport

Sport coaching and community

I'm head coach for the junior club and team coach for the ladies' team at Beyond Badminton. I hold a Badminton England Level 2 coaching qualification and a DBS check, and I'm a registered welfare officer, trained in safeguarding adults and juniors. I'm also trained in Mental Health First Aid.

The Sport door of The Tidy Mindset home stands open, with a lilac door and golden light spilling onto the steps. Through the doorway a sunrise lights mountains and a winding path, with a signpost reading Perform. The brain logo glows in the attic window above.
